  1. Precursor to Operation: Desert Storm • On Aug 2, 1990 the country of Iraq led by Saddam Hussein attacked their neighbor to the south east, Kuwait, on the basis that Iraq needed Kuwait’s oil fields to pay off the war debts, that it accumulated in its war with Iran and that Kuwait was once part of a nation that is now Iraq before the rise of western Imperialism. Then, they planned to go for Saudi-Arabia.

  2. Operation: Desert Shield • President Bush asked the UN to intervene, so they started Operation: Desert Shield which planned to post a great deal of USAF and RAF aircraft to defend Saudi-Arabia

Operation: Desert Storm • President Bush calls for a coalition to fight the Iraqis, this coalition enacted Operation: Desert Storm the two month retaking of Kuwait and pushing the Iraqi’s far deeper back into Iraq. • The coalition easily rammed through the Iraqi forces due to the highly trained coalition troops, very under trained Iraqi troops, high tech guided tomahawks and laser-guided missiles, and stealth bombers. • By the time the coalition had gotten deep into Iraqi, the rest of the world began to see this as being to brutal so they abandoned the conflict, now well resolved

  4. Aftermath of Operation: Desert Storm • Afterwards the UN sent weapon inspectors to Iraq to oversee the dismantling of arsenal of W.O.M.D.s, though Saddam was able to manipulate and eventually get rid of them with some of the weapons still intake.

  5. War in Bosnia • After the Republics of Bosnia and Herzegovina declared Independence from Federal People’s Republic of Yugoslavia, rejected by the Yugoslavia government they attacked the countries beginning a three year long war.

  6. Clinton sends troopsA bit too late • By the time Clinton and the UN decided to sends more support than just food, the Bosnians were already winning due to an extremely powerful fighting will. • The UN force took care of the remaining forces, ending the most devastating conflict since WWII

  7. Culture in the 90s • The 1990’s saw the peak of Gothic fashion and Hip-Hop styles • The 1990’s saw the epic rise in video gaming and 3-D modeling
