History of Catapults A “catapult” is any system that launches an object from a platform Onagers use twisted sinew to give them torque, or force Catapults were used for laying siege during the Middle Ages Catapults have been around since ancient times, and were used by the early Romans and Chinese

  7. Problems we had along the way Some problems we ran into and often didn’t have a solution for were… Getting our prototypes not to break. Having a working target (on the final,) Meeting our deadlines. And last but of course not least, Cooperating as a team, and putting our ideas together to hopefully make one good one.

  8. Science of Catapults Torque is the force that powers catapults. The string produces our torque. Kinetic energy is the energy which moving objects possess.Example: a ball in the top cup of our catapult goes farther than the lower because,in a circular rotation, it has traveled farther and gained more energy. The angle at which a projectile is launched from the catapult determines how far and how high it will go.

  9. Conclusion Our opinions of the program: Jessica: It’s fun but takes a lot of team work and cooperation. Amelia: It’s really fun and I would recommend it to anyone who’s interested in science. Meaghan: I liked it a lot, but it takes team work! Mariel: I like this project a lot, but you have to have patience and be able to work in a group. Whitney: It’s really fun and I learned a lot from it.
