  1. World Traveler Brochure Miss. Fama’s 6th grade classroom

  2. Objective • To gain an understanding of a new location in the world that you have never heard of before.

  3. Monday • Today we will be assigned into groups. • Then we will browse through the world atlas and chose any country in the world that is unfamiliar to you.

  4. Monday • We will also become familiar with the computer lab today. • Ask any questions you may have!

  5. Tuesday: Research • Today we will begin researching your location using these kids search engines. • http://kids.yahoo.com/ • http://www.kidsclick.org/ • http://www.askforkids.com/ • http://www.squirrelnet.com/search/Google_SafeSearch.asp

  6. Tuesday-Wednesday • On these days we will be searching for certain items in our countries!

  7. Three famous landmarks. • Find at least three famous landmarks.

  8. Famous People • Find some famous people from past or present from your area.

  9. Local Taste! • Find some popular foods from the area.

  10. Religion • Briefly describe the religion of the location.

  11. Weather! • Research the climate of your region. • Weather details

  12. Map • Include a map you find online that shows • Surrounding countries • Mountain Ranges • Surrounding Bodies of Water

  13. Thursday • Assembling Brochures • Today we will be using Microsoft Word to assemble our brochures. • We will be typing all of our written information and then print and assemble into our brochures!

  14. Friday (summary) • Today we will be “selling” our finished products to the class. Each group will show their brochures to other groups and convince them to “visit” their country with the interesting facts they learned!
