Students made four pockets inside their folder to hold their notes. Students labeled the pockets for the four categories to be studied: looks like, development, food and habitat.
Next students read books and watched educational videos about the Monarch Butterfly’s life cycle. Students took notes on index cards.
Students also watched monarch caterpillars eat and grow and eventually form a chrysalis
After that, students used the index cards to form topic sentences for each category studied
Next, students worked as a class to construct paragraphs for each category, based on their topic sentences.
Finally, students made a booklet to keep their research project in.
