  3. What is the Food Pyramid?

  4. To eat in a healthy way, you need food from the different food groups. The food pyramid is a chart that shows how many servings are healthy to eat each day from the following groups: grains, fruits, vegetables, meats or proteins, dairy, and oils.

  6. What guidelines does the food pyramid provide for healthy eating habits? • The food pyramid divides foods into five main groups: dairy (milk, yogurt, and cheese), protein (meat, poultry, fish, beans, eggs, and nuts), vegetables, fruits, and grains (bread, cereal, rice and pasta). The pyramid shows the amounts of each type of food that a person should eat in order to have a healthy diet. The pyramid is larger at its base and smaller at its top because a balanced diet includes more items from the bottom.

  7. How do healthy eating habits help the human body grow and be healthy? • When you practice healthy eating habits, you are eating foods with the vitamins and other nutrients your body needs to be healthy and grow strong. You are also avoiding foods that contain too much fat, sugar, or other things your body needs only a little bit of.
