  4. September Of 1878 • Stanford joined Charles Follen McKim and William Rutherford Mead to start the business McKim, Mead and White. • White designed a long series of houses for the rich, very rich, and various religious buildings.

  6. McKim, Mead, and White’s business become the largest and most important architecture office in America Between 1879 & 1912 ---------- Isaac Fletcher Mansion completed in 1899 Top picture replicates a wing in Henry VIII’s Hampton court

  8. McKim, Mead and White’s Work Cocke, Rouss, and Old Cabell halls at the University of Virginia The Rotunda

  9. Each partner brought the business to excellent level. McKim, Mead and White and brought specific and identifiable strengths to the firm. McKim was a designer with good understanding of Early American buildings and decorative arts, White was a skilled artist, capable of creating fantastic details. Mead mostly ran the office.

  11. Evelyn Nesbit Evelyn was 16 years old and White was 47 years old when Stanford and Evelyn had an affair.

  12. June 25th, 1906 White was at a wealthy get together . He was watching the chorus when Thaw Evelyn’s husband shot him in the back multiply times.
