Accelerating Excellence in Education The Colorado Legacy Foundation (CLF) is an independent non-profit organization that works in partnership with the Colorado Department of Education and public education stakeholders to catalyze bold improvement in student achievement through innovation, collaboration and capacity building.

  3. CLF Vision CLF believes that increased student achievement for all Colorado students requires: • Effective leaders in every school, • Effective educators in every classroom, and • Healthy and engaging environments that ignite a passion for learning in every student.

Colorado Integration Project • Involves the implementation of new curriculum and instructional tools that support the new Colorado Common Core Standards • Involves the implementation of new educator performance evaluations that align with Senate Bill 10-191. • Thirteen Colorado schools leading by serving as “learning laboratories” • San Juan BOCES (9 districts in Colorado’s Southwest corner) • Centennial School District • Denver Public Schools • Eagle County School District • Thompson School District

Strands of Work in Rural Districts • Grants to Colorado schools and districts to implement innovative promising practices in support of initiative areas • Expanded Learning Opportunities – Blended, online, AP, and experiential learning programs • Health and Wellness - Nutrition, physical activity, health education, employee wellness and school health services • Educator Effectiveness – Teacher leadership, evaluation systems, assessments, and staffing practices • Publish case studies and district leader guides on implementing evaluation systems & health and wellness policy • Content Collaborative support for student growth measures • Best practices for healthy, safe, and engaging schools (Walk Against Bullying, GSAs) • Increase the number and diversity of students participating in math, science, and English AP courses • Coordinate efforts on curriculum, instruction, and assessment to provide educators with clear, consistent and integrated support and guidance • Incorporate diverse perspectives through statewide convenings and stakeholder engagement

  9. Our unique partnership with CDE and local districts provides us with a broader, more comprehensive and integrated view of what’s possible in public education. At a time when the stakes are high and resources are low, now more than ever, public education needs a collaborative innovator and trusted partner to inspire creativity and new possibilities and to equip public education with the strategic resources, tools and support to catalyze bold improvements in student outcomes.

Earlier this year, CLF surveyed school and district leaders throughout Colorado and found: Of the Tools and Resources suggested by CLF: • Rural Administrators are most interested in best practices and assessment or analysis tools. • Rural Administrators are looking for the most support for SB191 implementation, using technology in the classroom, vertical alignment of curriculum, and integration of Common Core into their existing curriculum. • Rural Administrators are most interested in receiving tools via online options, such as YouTube, webinars, and email alerts.
