  1. English: Thursday, November 1, 2012 Handouts: *Guidelines for Evaluating Folk Lore Stories Homework: * Have a blessed All Saints Day!  3. Assignments due: * Did you have a “Happy Halloween”?

  2. Lesson Goal: Finish reading aloud and evaluating one another’s folk lore stories. Outcomes: Be able to . . . Demonstrate their ability to craft a folk lore story and read it aloud in story telling fashion. Identify the key elements each of the folk lore sub-genres: myth, fable, folk tale, legend. Evaluate the strengths, weaknesses, and overall quality of their peer’s folk lore stories. Demonstrate their social skills individually and collectively as a supportive audience. Collectively select a winner from each class who best demonstrates folk lore story telling.

  3. Starter Today’s handout summarizes what we discussed yesterday regarding how to evaluate the folk stories. Please keep this sheet on your desk, along with your sheet of notebook paper that you started yesterday (the one with student names and check mark grades). You will need to refer to this sheet occasionally to refresh your memory and make sure each story you hear correctly portrays the sub-genre that the author indicated. Let’s continue hearing your stories! 
