Career Field Stats: Airfield Management • 37 of 75 bases operating under reduced manning waivers (1 AM at counter) • SRB zeroed out • Chronic Critical Skills List Promotion Increases to SMSgt • 3 additional E-8 stripes for FY05 • CMSgt manning; Auth 10 / Assigned 8 = 80% • New AFSC (1C7X1) separates AM from ARMS (1 Nov 04) • FY05 training production rate dropped to 10 NPS for force shaping • Will return to 74 for FY06
XOO Hot Issues Airfield Operations Deployment (AOD) IPT • Description: • Task Force Enduring Look (TFEL) Report #9 highlighted • Disconnects hindering Airfield Ops deployment process • XO owns controllers/AM…IL owns equipment/maintainers • Impact: Lack of cohesion, AO employment problems, poor equipment and inadequate combat skills training • TFEL recommendation: AF XOO/ILC sponsor IPT to evaluate implementation of new expeditionary AO organization • Current Status: • Approved by CSAF • Future Actions: • Develop MAJCOM teams to implement recommendations POC: AFFSA/XAR, Maj Dion, DSN 857-6725
XOO Hot Issues Airfield Management UTC • Description: Equipment UTC providing specially equipped vehicle and equipment to support airfield management at austere airfields • Emerged from Jul 02 TFEL / Airfield Ops combat hotwash as AFFSA #1 funding priority • FY02 fallout funds ($230K) procured 2 complete UTCs • Current Status: • 7 total UTC packages now exist • Working JTRS waiver to procure radios for 4 of the systems • Future Actions: • Identify permanent pilot unit POC: AFFSA/XAR, TSgt Blevins, DSN 857-4777
