  2. Italy • Italy has many sites and is a very popular tourist site. Italy has masterpieces created by famous painters , and beautiful structures like the Leaning Tower of Pisa and the Colosseum.

  3. The Capital of Italy is Roma/Rome • Rome has various places such as the Colosseum and the Italian Peninsula. Rome has marvelous museum's like Castel Sant’ Angelo. It ahs a 5 star rating and is in the heart of Rome, Italy.

  4. Italian Flag • The Italian tricolor was first established during the Napoleonic Wars by French republics in northern Italy , who styled it after the French tricolor. In 1848 the design was adopted by the house of Savoy, which went on to lead the Italian unification. The present flag was adopted in 1946, when Italy became a republic and the royal arms were removed.

Population • Population: 58,133,509 approximately • Age structure can be defined as: • 0-14 years: 14.03% • 15-64 years: 65.93% • 65 years and over: 20.04% • Growth Rate of Population: 0.68% • Net Migration Rate: 7.5% • Population divided into different genders / Sex Ratio in the following Age Groups at birth: • 1.07 males per a female • Under 15 years: 1.06 males per a female • 15-64 years: 1.02 males per a female • 65 years and over: 0.72 male per a female • Ethnic groups: Italian. But exists some clusters of German, French, and Slovene. There are also few Albanian-Italians and Greek-Italians in the south • Religions • 90% belong to Roman • 10% are Protestant or Jewish • There are also very few Muslim immigrant

  7. Average Climate • Italy is not a huge country, but the weather from the top to the toe of this boot will vary pretty dramatically throughout the year. Plus, with the long coastlines and mountain ranges, the temperature can change in a matter of minutes as you go from town to town.

  9. Popular Foods • One of the greatest prides of the Italians is their food. The major meal in Italy is eaten in the middle of the day. Large meals always consist of many courses. The Italians may have a pasta course followed by a course of fish or meat. The Italians sometimes have a course called antipasto, which is Italian for appetizers, before they eat their pasta course. The antipasto course may contain a large variety of vegetables and cold meats like prosciutto, which is a ham with spices on it. The antipasto may also consist of salami, olives, and artichoke hearts. • The foods of Italy are greatly varied, depending on which region you are in. For example, ribbon-shaped pastas are the most popular in the northern region of Italy. In the southern region of Italy, macaroni with tomato sauce is the most popular and favorite pasta. Risotto, which means rice dish with vegetables, is a first course, as well. Pizza is also a popular food in Italy. Wine is served with every meal other than breakfast.

  12. Historical Information • History • The migrations of Indo-European peoples into Italy probably began about 2000 B.C. and continued until 1000 B.C. From about the 9th century B.C. until it was overthrown by the Romans in the 3rd century B.C. , the Etruscan civilization was dominant. By 264 B.C. , all Italy south of Cisalpine Gaul was under the leadership of Rome. For the next seven centuries, until the barbarian invasions destroyed the western Roman Empire in the 4th and 5th centuries A.D. , the history of Italy is largely the history of Rome. From 800 on, the Holy Roman Emperors, Roman Catholic popes, Normans, and Saracens all vied for control over various segments of the Italian peninsula. Numerous city-states, such as Venice and Genoa, whose political and commercial rivalries were intense, and many small principalities flourished in the late Middle Ages. Although Italy remained politically fragmented for centuries, it became the cultural center of the Western world from the 13th to the 16th century .
