  1. New Jersey Air Quality Data Exchange Implementations Presented by: Mike Matsko NJDEP Exchange Network Users Meeting April 25, 2007

  2. NJ Projects Leveraging the AQDE Schema • AQDE Challenge Grant - DE, NJ, NY • State to AQS • State to Air Now • State to State • HLS Challenge Grant - MI, ME, NH, NJ • State DEP to LPS (first responders) • CDC Network Grant • State DEP to DOH (research scientists)

  3. Common Themes between Projects • Publish Data through ENDS • Machine to Machine data exchange • Person to Machine data exchange • Build Once and Re-use • Same data services used for all consumers • Single National Schema • Designed to Share data • GIS Tools

  4. How can we satisfy all Data Consumers? • AQDE schema developed with focus on “air quality” not AQS • Use same Solicit and Query services to answer Data Consumer’s questions and populate Federal Systems • Identify all parameters needed to answer Data Consumer’s questions as well as extract data for regulatory submissions • Example: FileGenerationPurposeCode • AQS • AIRNOW • OTHER

  5. State to AQS Implementation • Project Deliverables • Multi-Purpose Schema (AQDE) • Populate AQS using Exchange Network • Deliverable Status • NTG schema conformance review complete • AQS submission tested • Next Steps • Test data service with current data and updated schema • Move data service to production • Implementation Notes • Data service will be published in ENDS • Air Monitoring staff will use the “EN Browser” to send data to AQS

  6. State to Air Now Implementation • Project Deliverables • Pilot: Exchange air monitoring data using EN and AQDE schema • Production: Exchange production air monitoring data using EN and AQDE schema every hour • Deliverable Status • Pilot complete • Next Steps • Test Data Service with current data and updated schema (May) • Move Data Service to Production (June) • Implementation Notes • Data service will be published in ENDS • NJ will schedule a solicit every hour to send data to Air Now Node • NJ will send additional parameters other than Ozone and PM2.5 • Air Now exchange will handle UPDATED data!

  7. State to State Implementation • Project Deliverables • Exchange air monitoring data using EN and AQDE schema • GIS tool to view current data • Deliverable Status • Pilot complete • Use proven Air Now Tech GIS tool • Next Steps • Test data service with current data and updated schema • Move data service to production • Implementation Notes • Data service will be published in ENDS • “EN Browser” will be used for person to machine data exchanges

  8. State DEP to LPS Implementation • Project Deliverables • Exchange Air Monitoring, Drinking Water, Env. Incidents, and RTK Chemical Inventory data with LPS • Deliverable Status (Air) • Developed and tested an automated process to send Air Monitoring Site/Monitor/Raw data to LPS EPINet system • Next Steps • Test data service with current data and updated schema • Move data service to Production

  9. State DEP to LPS Implementation continued... • Implementation Notes • LPS deployed an EN compliant Submit Web Service • DEP will schedule a solicit every 3 minutes and deliver the previous minutes worth of “Raw” data from 28 air monitors • LPS will ingest the data from the XML payload into an ORACLE db • The most recent data submission will be available for viewing spatially on their EPINet Map Viewer • Data will be integrated with Traffic Cameras, Census Data, Weather Data, Critical & Transportation Infrastructure Data, Schools, and Hospital Data • Green, Yellow, Red color coding of Monitor Locations based on Air Quality expertise and reason • Pollutants: CO, NO2, O3, SO2, PM2.5, Smoke Shade, (NO, NOx)

  10. State DEP to DOH Implementation • Project Deliverables • Exchange Air Monitoring and Drinking Water data with DOH • Deliverable Status • Evaluating if AQDE and eDWR are a good fit • Implementation Notes • We would like to use “EN Browser” and existing data services for person to machine data exchanges
