13. Contribution to ERA 5.1 Contribution to the European Research Area by opening new prospectives for European science and technology
· exploring and supporting of the arising new research ideas in Europe
Many new ideas arising in research laboratories are not discovered on European level. Numerous researchers have their own, still not disclosed, ideas important for future development of science. The exploration of these ideas is one of the project’s objectives. It will contribute to developing new and unconventional concepts and to transform them into NEST Adventure projects.
· increasing awareness of NEST in the European research community
The intended project activities will improve awareness of the NEST-Programme. Info-days, workshops and seminars on national and international level will promote the NEST-programme and will dismantle the barriers preventing the research communities from recognising the feasibility of their new ideas.
· open new horizons for scientific investigations
Already explored scientific ideas will subsequently open possibilities for investigations in new areas.
· setting up a special platform for the exchange of ideas in Europe
Different already existing internet tools for partner search but also information and brokerage events will provide a useful platform for the exchange of ideas in Europe. This platform will have a clear European character underlined by the participation of scientists from the whole of Europe.
· integrating of disciplines and potential actors
The intention of the project is to create links between different approaches to scientific problems and between different actors in various research field.
· contributing to the international co-operation of researchers from Members and Associated States, and Candidate Countries
The project will have high impact in integrating the research groups from MS, ASS and ACC. It will implement best practice and experience from each region of Europe. The involvement of scientists from Candidate Countries will support the integration
· making recommendations for defining RTD strategic objectives
The project results, analysing the response of scientific community to NEST formulated in respective reports are supposed to assist the Commission in defining NEST Work Programme and formulating future calls. The expected result of the project is an increased number of good ideas submitted within the NEST programme.

14. Work Packages WP 1. Identifying future research opportunities
The workpackage gathers information on NEST project ideas for discernment of future research avenues. Mapping of NEST organisations, promising projects in their socio-cultural, economic, political environment is essential for understanding incentives and dis-incentives. The workpackage develops a pilot initiative on benchmarking of future research avenues to be used by other organisations.
Example: Synthetic Biology Net in Germany
WP 2. Building awareness and interactions establishment
The workpackage aims to attract and create a network of across disciplines partners for sharing information on strategies, actions, financing schemes and best practices.
WP 3. Promotion of NEST aims through computer and internet tools
Creation of a web site where the results of the collected project ideas but also a list of active organisations, events and project financing mechanisms will be published. This website will be presented to the EC for final approval before being implemented. Workpackage 3 will establish an INTRANET communication for the Network and other subscribers enabling access to more confidential information. Innovative computer tools will be tested in regards to increase interest for NEST projects.
WP 4. Analysing the dynamic of change and emerging science and technology
The workpackage provides analysis of dynamic of change in science and technology and recommendations for management specific to high risk and interdisciplinary research. The analysis will be carried out by agroup of experts, who will develop methodology for assessment of dynamic of change. The outcome will be a recommendation report.
WP 5. Project management
This workpackage arranges for effective execution of the project, collaboration between project partners, monitoring of the work, budget and expenditures. It shall ensure the timely delivery of outputs and communication with the European Commission. WP 1. Identifying future research opportunities
