Frequently Asked Questions How can I reach the school? • The Middle School phone number is (978) 794-1870.The Middle School fax number is (978) 794-3619 What number do I call if my child will be absent? • Please call (978) 794-1870 Press 2. • Parents of students who are not reported absent will receive a automatic phone call as a safety check some time after 9 am. What time does school start and end? • School starts at 7:45 a.m.  AFTER 7:45 IS CONSIDERED LATE • School ends at 2:20 p.m. What time is school dismissed on a 1/2 day? • School is dismissed at 11:05a.m. on half days.

11. How do late students sign in? • Parents just need to drop off any late student at the main entrance –the student then comes to the office desk and signs in and receives a pass to class. How do I dismiss my student? • Send a note and have your student bring it TO THE OFFICE in the morning before homeroom. Students will sign out on the YELLOW clipboard and wait for their ride inside the front doors. • This procedure works very well and is part of our ongoing effort to reduce the amount of classroom interruptions. Without a note the parent must come in the building and then we notify the student which can take as long as 15 minutes. 12. What is the Middle School End of the day like? • Students are dismissed with a tone at 2:20. They then go to their locker and home. Bus students go either to the front lobby or cafeteria side of the building and board their buses. All rooms have bus locations posted. Students may exit any door. Be sure if you are picking your child up at the end of the day that you discuss with them where you might meet. It is suggested that you give your student time at the end of the day to pack their backpack and make their way to you. No child is picked up at the front doors at 2:20 as the area is jammed with buses loading. Can my child have a cell phone in school? • Students may have cell phones in school, but once inside the building phones need to be turned off and placed in their locked locker. When can my child buy a lock? • We suggest that you buy the lock as soon as possible and practice at home. The school locks are $5.00 and are the only approved locks for NAMS.
