We have a moral obligation to help all students reach their full potential as workers, as citizens, and as human beings.
We need to markedly alter the way learning occurs in our schools. That transformation will require a new commitment to research, to professional preparation, and to ongoing professional development.
Transformation is within our reach when we see diversity in our student population and English Language Learners as an asset rather than a burden.
Transformation is within our reach if Congress can reach consensus for students. …and put more resources in education research to match the political rhetoric about research-based practices.

Degrees awarded increased 98% from 1999 to 2007 despite the very higher tuition for graduate students, highest among our peer institutions. GSE produced 12% of all degrees at PSU in 2006-2007. GSE produced 38% of all masters degrees.
Thirty-eight percent of all graduate degrees awarded by PSU are from the GSE.
Counselor Education Programs Received Eight-year Accreditation from the Council for the Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs
