  1. Chemical Treatment – Curly Leaf We are planning chemical treatment of curly leaf pondweed the last week in April. Our plan is to treat between 14.3 and 50 acres. In 2007 we treated the 14.3 acres and there is expectation by the DNR that we continue that treatment for at least three consecutive years in our to effectively kill the plants treated. Each year any growing plants put out turions which are the potential plant for successive years therefore requiring repetitive treatment. After completing the treatment last year it was discovered through an immediate plant survey that there were another 35 acres of curly leaf in the lake. We applied for a grant to assist of with financing the full 50 acre treatment however the grant was not approved by the DNR. Treating all 50 acres this year will put a serious strain on our budget but if the DNR strongly is in favor of our treatment of all 50 acres we will do our best to do that. Please contact our secretary, john.abitz@blackotterlake.com if you have any questions.
