  1. Macbeth Act II

  2. Scene 1 • Fleance is Banquo’s son. • Banquo cannot sleep – thinking about the predictions • The king was pleased and is sleeping well but Macbeth feels that they did not have enough time to prepare for it • Macbeth lies, says he is not thinking about the witches • He asks Banquo to help him, he says ok as long as he remains guilt free • Macbeth talks about his plan he is nervous a bell rings and he hopes Duncan will not hear it

  3. Scene II • Lady Macbeth is feeling powerful, she drugged the solider • She says she would have killed him herself if he did not resemble her father • Macbeth had killed Duncan • He is feeling nervous after his deed he will sleep no more • Lady tells him to wash his hands, smear the blood from the daggers on the grooms • He is still afraid so Lady says she will do it (hears a knocking) • They go to bed so they will not be suspected

  4. Scene III • Porter = comic relief • Macduff’s job is to wake up the king • Lennox – nature reflects people’s actions • MacDuff’s first one to find body and is panicking he calls Lady gentle, cannot hear her story • Guards being blamed • Macbeth killed the guards out of his fury • Malcolm and Donalbain think someone is after them if they become king so M. goes to England and D. to Ireland • Banquo wants to investigate

  5. Scene IV • Malcolm and Donalbain have gained suspicion by leaving • Macbeth will become king • Scone – where Scottish kings were crowned • Fife – where Macduff’s castle is located
