  1. Cadherin and Fibronectin and pattern formation 江宗諭 B9902012 李建霖 B9902018

  2. Cadherin • A class of transmembrane proteins • Are dependent on Ca2+ to function • Including cadherins, protocadherins, desmogleins, desmocollins, and more.

  3. The structure of cadherin • The cadherins are synthesized as a precursor polypeptide • It contains a conserved HAV sequence

  4. Regulation of expression and signal transduction • Cadherins may be involved in invasion and metastasis of tumor cell

  5. Fibronectin • a high-molecular weight extracellular matrix glycoprotein(ch.6 p.120) • Two types are present in vertebrates: 1. soluble plasma fibronectin 2. insoluble cellular fibronectin • Plays a important role in many areas 1.生理作用 2.導致疾病 EXTRACELLULAR FLUID Fibronectin CYTOPLASM

  6. Fibronectin - structure • exists as a dimer • consists of two polypeptide chains - linked by a pair of C-terminal disulfide bonds

  7. Fibronectin - function • Fibronectin has numerous functions that ensure the normal functioning of vertebrate organisms. • Example: embryogenesis

  8. embryogenesis • 協助細胞移動(migration)、充當軌道 • inactivating the gene for fibronectin results in early embryonic lethality
