  2. Player Equipment No Metal Cleats Shin Guards Required No Jewelry, it cannot be taped over No brimmed hats, except for goalie

  3. Game Ball Must have a FIFA, NFHS, or NCAA stamp on the ball. Game balls are available for check out at the Intramural Field House

  4. Mens/Womens: Games are Played 7 v 7 Full Team Players CoRec: Games are Played 7 v 7 Games are played with 4 of one gender and 3 of the other. It is also acceptable to play with 5 of one gender and 2 of the other. OR

  5. Mens/Womens: Minimum needed to start is 5 CoRec: Minimum need to start is 5 Must have three of one gender and two of the other Minimum Team Players

  6. Substitutions Can be made at the following stoppages by either team: Goal Kick, Corner Kick, Throw Ins (If throwing team substitutes), injury, half/time, before overtime and/or at the referee’s discretion

  7. Substitutions No substitutions on the fly! No substitutions prior to any free kick.

  8. Timing Games will consist of 2 halves of 20 minutes each. 20 : 00

  9. Overtime All tie games will go to overtime in both the regular season and overtime 5:00 5:00 If score is tied after 1st OT 2nd OT: Sudden Death Rules, 5 minutes 1st OT: Regular rules, 5 minutes If score is still tied, 5 v 5 shootout. If still tied, 1 v 1 shootout until a winner is determined.

  10. Ball in and out of touch For a ball to be ruled out of touch it must cross completely over the end line or sideline either on the ground or in the air. Out of Bounds In Bounds

  11. Goal Scored For a goal to be scored the ball must cross completely over the end line between the goal posts and under the cross bar.

  12. Handling Handling the ball by a field player, or by a goalie who is OUTSIDE his/her goal box, must be intentional.

  13. Free Kick Distance All opposing players must be at least seven (7) yards away from the ball prior to it being kicked. Distance must be 7 yards in any direction

  14. Direct Free Kicks Direct Kicks: Awarded for fouls that involve some type of player to player contact A goal canbe scored directly from the first touch by an offensive player.

  15. Indirect Free Kicks Awarded for fouls that are “violations” of the rules including dangerous plays, offside, failing to respect the 7 yard distance on a re-start. A goal cannot be scored directly from the first touch by an offensive player.

  16. Throw In A throw-in from behind either sideline must be completed with both feet on the ground and the ball thrown with two hands from completely behind the head.

  17. Goalie The goalie must wear a jersey opposite the color of both teams The goalie can use his/her hands any where in their own penalty penalty box A teammate cannot pass, or throw the ball from a throw-in, the ball directly back to the goalie who then uses his/her hands to play the ball. The goalie can punt in outdoor soccer, and can throw the ball anywhere on the field. CoRec: The goalie is the only person allowed to slide tackle, provided they are in their own penalty box

  18. Dissent Questioning a referee about a call is perfectly acceptable, but YELLING IS NOT! Any player who yells or curses at an official will be shown a yellow card.

  19. The 7 Cautionable Offenses (Yellow Card) • Guilty of Unsporting Behavior (UB) • Dissent by Word or Action (DT) • Persistently Infringes the Laws of the Game (PI) • Delays the Restart of Play (DR) • Fails to Respect the Required Distance on a Restart (FRD) • Enters or Re-enters the Field W/O Referee’s Permission (E) • Leaves the Field W/O Referee’s Permission (L)

  20. The 7 Sending Off Offenses (Red Card) • Serious Foul Play (SFP) • Guilty of Violent Conduct (VC) • Spits at an Opponent (S) • Denies the Opposing Team an Obvious Goal Scoring Opportunity by Foul (DGF) • Denies the Opposing Team an Obvious Goal Scoring Opportunity by Handling (DGH) • Uses Offensive, Abusive or Insulting Language (AL) • 2nd Caution (2CT)

  21. CoRec Rules Must have at least 2 of one gender to play Goalie can be female or male NO SLIDE TACKLING IN COREC Automatic Yellow Card

  22. Rain Outs Due to the utilization of our turf fields for Outdoor Soccer we will seldom cancel games for weather other than when lightning or thunder are in the vicinity. Always check our rain line at 859-622-PLAY (7529) if you have any weather questions.
