  2. What is a Portal? A portal provides the framework for a single entry point to a set of applications and/or resources. Once a user is authenticated into the portal, the user ID associates them with a specific group.

Why? • Anytime anywhere access • Enhance communication and collaboration (beyond the classroom walls) • Single Sign On (SSO) allows users to have immediate access to all of the resources they need without having to remember numerous web links, login names, and passwords. • Provide access to shared resources • Cloud computing vs Desktop computing • Student owned devices
