Temporary control does not end the Times of the Gentiles. • Only the Messiah’s Second Coming ends the Times of the Gentiles. Daniel 2:35, 44-45, 7:14, 22, 26-27

  11. Rome • a. The United Stage 63 BC –AD 364 • b. The Two Division Stage AD 364 –present • Emperor Valentinian divided the roman Empire into east and west divisions in AD 364 which remained permanent • Western capitol was Rome and the eastern capitol was Constantinople • AD 1453 Constantinople fell with the Turkish invasion. The political rulers, scribes ,and scholars fled northward into Russia and infiltrated the government there setting up a Roman type of government (imperialism). The rulers called themselves Czars, which is Russian for “Caesar.” • Russia gave herself the official title of the Third Roman Empire • The power then centered into the Soviet Union and the Communist block • Today, with the collapse of European Communism, the balance of power has shifted to Russia and the commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).

  12. The western division remained in Rome from AD 364 to AD 476 when Rome fell. • From there it shifted to France and eventually much power was gained under Charlemagne in AD 800 which he called the Holy Roman Empire of the Frankish nation. • AD 962 Otto I of Germany defeats the Franks and sets up the Holy Roman Empire of the German nation. The leaders called themselves Kaisers which is German for “Caesar.” • Since then, and after WW1, the balance of power is centered in democratic nations of the west. • The two division stage continues to the present day.

  13. One World Government stage (future) • The Invasion of Gog and Magog will collapse the eastern balance of power , especially Russia, along with her Muslim allies which could open the way for the one world government to occur. Ezek. 38:1-39:16 • d. The Ten Division stage (future) and must cover the entire world since Rome has already a one world Government. Therefore, these should be interpreted as 10 districts that cover the entire world

  14. The Antichrist stage of Imperial Rome (future) • The Beast (Imperial Rome) Comes out of the Sea (Gentile World) v.1 • The 10 World wide divisions that was ruled co-equally by men, give way to this stage even though the kingdoms still exist to the end. • The world in all 10 divisions will be ruled by the Antichrist and the other kings are subject to him. v.2 (10 horns/crowns = kingdoms/kings) • The Beast has seven heads (explained later in Rev. 17)

  15. The Antichrist stage of Imperial Rome (future) The Seven Heads • Revelation 17:7-14 • This is the same Beast as in Dan 7 & Rev. 13 • The 10 horns represent the 10 Division stage of the Roman Empire. (10 future contemporary kings) • Verse 8 describes the death, counterfeit resurrection and worship of the Antichrist. • Verse 9-10 describe the meaning of the 7 heads on the Beast • The heads are mountains.

  16. The Antichrist stage of Imperial Rome (future) The Seven Heads • Revelation 17:7-14 • The heads are mountains. • In scripture when the word “mountain/s” is used symbolically it means king, kingdom, or throne. • They are seven sequential/chronological kings/kingdoms • Five had already fallen by John’s day • One was present (Rome) • One more is to come

  17. This Beast empire contains influences from the previous three empires since it has their parts. The first three empires dominion ended but their influence goes on until the end. v.3 • As for the rest of the beasts, they had their dominion taken away, yet their lives were prolonged for a season and a time. • Daniel 7:24 • The Antichrist is killed and counterfeitly resurrected (the seventh head = the antichrist) v.3

  18. The people of the earth will worship the Antichrist v.3-4, 8 • The Antichrist speaks great things. v.5a • The Antichrist rules for 3 ½ years over the entire world through the 10 divisions v.5b • The Antichrist blasphemes Heaven. v.6 • The Antichrist wars against Israel and the nations. v.7 • The warning is issued. V.9-10

  19. Application • We must accept and believe that God is in full control of evil. • He allows evil because it accomplishes His plan. (Rom 8:28) • God prepares us for what we must go through in life. Where He guides, He provides. • God is allowing evil/sin to play itself out to show that it misses the mark. • We cannot change the course of history so our job is to edify the believers and witness to the lost. • God will give you more than you can bare so that you will cry out to Him. (E.g. Israel) Dan 12:7, 2 Cor. 1:8-9
