Who is Arizona Public Service? • Headquartered in Phoenix. • APS, is Arizona’s longest-serving electricity utility, serving approximately 1.1 million customers. • Operates 10 Power plants that use a variety of resources to produce electricity. • Provides service in 11 of Arizona’s 15 counties.

  3. Energy Efficiency Standard • Statewide EE Standard approved by the ACC in Dec. 2009. Went into effect in Jan. 2011. • Annual Energy Savings as a % of Retail Sales Est. cumulative energy savings required by 2020 = 6,500,000 MWh Achieved to date (2005 to 2010) = 1,091,000 MWh (17% of the way)

Multifamily Energy Efficiency Program • The Multifamily program is a new program introduced in 2011 and is currently in a launch phase. • Program debut is expected in April • To qualify the community must be in the APS service area, be a multifamily facility of at least 5 units, and to receive water saving measures must have electric water heating. • APS is creating a participation list of interested communities.

  5. Why have an EE Program for Multifamily? • Large number of APS customers live in multifamily dwellings. • Large untapped resource for energy savings. • APS needs significant energy savings to meet new state goals.

  6. Multifamily Program Tracks • Direct Install for dwellings • Common Area retrofits • New Construction and major renovation

  7. Dwelling Direct Install Retrofits • APS and your property Manager completes a walk through assessment of community. • APS provides enough FREE CFL bulbs, and energy efficient showerheads and faucet aerators to retrofit each unit in the community • Communities provide component installation with field support from APS. • Follow up inspection required to verify installs.

  8. Common Area Retrofits • APS provides a complementary energy assessment of all common areas and commercial facilities. • Energy saving opportunities and corresponding APS rebates are identified. • APS rebates typically cover about 75% of the incremental cost of retrofits.

  10. Multifamily Program Benefits • Reduce Operating Costs and Increase profits. • Increase tenant satisfaction • Lower community churn rate • Promote the property as a green community.

  11. Projected Multifamily Program Launch • The Multifamily program is a new program introduced in 2011. • Program is currently in a launch phase and is expected to be available in April 2011. • APS is creating a participation list of interested communities.
