  2. 6 easy steps to help you think like a Doula, even if you aren't one: • Read • Watch • Learn • Think • Listen • Support

  3. Read Read topics and other books about childbirth and labor support. The Birth Partner The Doula Book Pregnancy, Childbirth and the Newborn

  4. Watch Watch birth videos and DVDs. Watch TV Birth Shows - pay attention to how these shows may be overly medicalized.

  5. Learn Attend Prenatal Classes or Childbirth Preparation Classes. Talk to Birth Advocates, Midwives, Doulas and progressive Doctors.

  6. Think Spend some time pondering your own philosophy and beliefs about childbirth and labor. Think about the birth experience that you would want to have. Think about the person you are supporting.

  7. Listen Talk to the pregnant woman about her wishes for the birth. Ask the her some questions the are absolutely important to her at the birth.
