  2. School-Wide Info Hours of Operation • 8:45-9:00 arrival • 9:00 Start of School Day • 3:30-3:45 Dismissal Policies and Procedures • Family Handbook • www. Roxburyschool.org • Twitter RoxburyPrincipal/ RoxburySchool • ROPE – Roxbury Organization of Parents and Educators (PTO) Arrival and Dismissal • Bus Entrance and Exit in front of school • Car riders and walkers enter and exit through the back of the school or auditorium • Changes must be in writing – Emergency Contacts

School-Wide Info • Kindergarten through Fifth Grade • Approximately 650-700 students • Lunch is 25 minutes in the cafeteria and is supervised by Teachers, Assistants, Administrators • Lunch may be brought from home or purchased for $2.60 / day • Snacks are provided by parents • Bathroom breaks are supervised • Essentials – Music, Art, PE, Media 40 mins. daily • Students must wear sneakers for PE and secured footwear to participate in recess

  4. Academic Program • Reading and Writing Workshop with Professional Support from America’s Choice and a full time Teacher Coach • Everyday Math – University of Chicago • Inquiry-Based Science FOSS Kits • Social Studies

Social Emotional Learning • Positive Behavior Supports are school wide structures to teach social and behavioral expectations to students • Social Skills Instruction: Identifying Feelings; Empathy; Conflict Resolution • The Six Pillars of Character: Responsibility, Citizenship, Respect, Trustworthiness, Caring, Fairness • Leadership & Community Service

  6. Support Services • Family Engagement • Scientifically Based Research Interventions for academic support • Coaching for classroom teachers to improve quality of instruction • English Language Learners Support • Counseling with the Psychologist or Social Worker • Special Education

How you can help… • Be positive about school – don’t share your anxiety with your children • Bring questions and concerns directly to the teacher so you build a positive and open relationship • Make sure your child is in school every day and on time • Check your child’s book bag every night • Read and Talk to your child about school every night • Supervise your child’s television and music. • Participate in after school activities such as Open House, Conferences, Math Nights, PTO events, etc. • Volunteer in the school • Be respectful of School Policies and Procedures – read the family handbook.
