Jurisdiction of the Court • Original • The court a case is originally tried in • Appellate • The court a case is appealed to from the original court • Concurrent • Two courts have simultaneous jurisdiction • i.e. State & Federal courts • Exclusive • The only court that may hear a particular case • i.e. Bankruptcy cases heard in bankruptcy court

  4. Expanding Power of the Court Analyze the cartoon in terms of its meaning related to the Marbury v. Madison case. • What do you see in the cartoon? Make a list. Include objects, people, and any characteristics that seem to be exaggerated. • Which of the items on the list from Question 1 are symbols?
