  1. ACRIN Breast Committee Fall Meeting 2010 6683 CADe study Etta Pisano, MD Martin Yaffe PhD Elodia Cole, MS Zheng Zhang, PhD ACRIN Breast Committee

  2. Study Summary Study 1: To assess commercial computer aided detection system standalone sensitivity for DMIST digital and screen-film cancer cases Study 2: To determine if commercial computer aided detection systems can improve radiologist performance with DMIST digital cases.

  3. Publication Summary to Date Abstracts/Presentations Made Study 1: “CAD system Marking of Digital Mammograms of DMIST Cancers” presented at RSNA 2009 Study 2: “Performance of Radiologists’ with Computer Aided Detection Systems – A Retrospective Study of Digital DMIST Cases” presented at IWDM 2010

  4. Key Findings Overall Study 1: Overall standalone sensitivity was higher on digital then screen-film mammograms for the CADe systems tested. Study 2: Radiologists were seldom influenced by CADe marks. Even so, the average sensitivity of radiologists modestly improved with the use of CADe.

  5. Key Findings 2010 Study 1: CADe found significantly more cancers than were found by the original DMIST Readers Study 2: On average, Radiologists’ AUC and sensitivity performance improved with the use of CADe.

  6. Specific Goals for 2011 Related to Analyses, Publications To publish two papers currently in writing phase: Study 1: “Assessing CADe system Standalone Sensitivity with Cancer Cases from the Digital Mammography Imaging Screening Trial” Study 2: “Assessment of Radiologists’ Performance with CADe for Digital Mammography”
