Learning Target Learning Criteria • Students will be able to choose a side of an argument and write an argumentative paragraph using the Toulmin structure • I can read the article “Hot Mess” • I can determine which side of the argument I will prove using facts • I can fill out the graphic organizer • I can write an argumentative paragraph

  2. L.C 2 =I can determine which side of the argument I will prove using facts • Write a thesis statement for your argumentative paragraph • What could the facts from this article help you prove?

  3. L.C 3= I can fill out the graphic organizer • You need to find 3 warrants (direct quotes from the article) that will help support your claim (thesis statement)

  4. Impacts (explanation of how warrant supports claim) • Write impacts for each of your warrants (explain how your direct quote supports your claim)

  5. L.C 4 = can write an argumentative paragraph • Use the back of your sheet to write an argumentative paragraph • Look at the rubric criteria….what do you need to do to get a “proficient” score? • Finish for homework
