  2. The Sperm • 200-500 million released each ejaculation • Only a few hundred reach the egg • Only ONE fertilizes the egg • Produced daily from puberty until death • Carry 23 chromosomes of genetic material • Can live up to 4 days inside the female

More about Sperm… • Can only live a short time outside the body • Take 12-24 hours to reach the fallopian tube • Stored for approximately 6 weeks - are reabsorbed and eliminated if not released • Look like tiny little tadpoles and use their tails to move • Travel 1/3 inch an hour after ejaculation
