  1. Bellringer • Identify the 6 different biomes we have already studied • Name one characteristic about each of these biomes

  2. Objective • SWBAT Identify and describe the major biomes and habitats and their characteristics: desert, grassland, savannah, tropical forest, coniferous forest, tundra, freshwater, and saltwater.

  3. Biodiversity • Key Point #1 • Biodiversity: the variety of all forms of life, from genes to species

  4. Freshwater Biomes • Key Point #2: • Freshwater biomes have little to no salt and include ponds, streams, rivers and some lakes

  5. Marine biomes • Key Point #3: • Marine biomes: saltwater bodies of water, include oceans and some lakes

  6. Boreal Biomes • Key Point #4 • Boreal: trees that do not shed their leaves in the winter (pine trees, evergreen trees)

  7. Biomes Stations • Using the worksheet, you will fill in information about each biome with 2-3 other people. • You will have 1.5 minutes at each station • While you are at each station, you should be speaking in low voices with your group members so you are not distracting other groups. • After you have finished filling in the table, you should independently answer the questions at the end of the worksheet.
