  4. We ARE to Follow the Apostles 1 Corinthians 11:1 Be imitators of me, just as I also am of Christ. Philippians 3:17-18 Brethren, join in following my example, and observe those who walk according to the pattern you have in us. 3:18For many walk, of whom I often told you, and now tell you even weeping, that they are enemies of the cross of Christ

  5. Especially Their Teaching 2 Timothy 2:2 The things which you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses, entrust these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.

  6. “Parousia” was not a clever myth Because they were witnesses of his majesty! and Eyewitness testimony is accepted in any court.

  7. Eyewitnesses & Earwitnesses Clearly heard the message for 3 groups for ages to come. • Some run to Moses for guidance • Some listen/twist the prophets • Some make the decision on their own on how to honor God This is my Beloved Son, My Chosen One, listen to Him!

  8. The Prophetic Word was MORE Sure “give attention” - Gk. prosecho- to bring near, be attentive, to devote thought and effort The prophecies are reliable, trustworthy, and deserving of study.

  9. To answer accusations… • “We don’t need the O.T.?” • “We don’t need to study the O.T.?” • “You don’t believe in the O.T.?” • FALSE! • The Old Testament is a lamp shining in a (lit. very) dark place.

  13. Why are the prophecies sure? • B/c they’re not of private “interpretation” Gk. Epiluo - to untie a knot, unloose a burden and disclose the contents….. Men did NOT speak as THEY wished • B/c they spoke as “moved” by the Holy Spirit, they spoke from God “moved”- borne along, impelled…from God As they wrote, spoke and taught you CAN believe.
