Environmental Impacts • Acrylamide is present in low levels in drinking water. Increased exposure may cause damage to nervous system. • Amides may also be used in herbicides, such as polyacrylamide, which may be potentially harmful to crops. • Some amides, such as Nylon, are non-biodegradable • Kevlar bulletproof vests help to save lives around the world yet this product is non-biodegradable and simply ends up in a land fill
