Goals Students will … • use different resources within SIRS to gain a better understanding of the immigration issue • gain insight into the personal struggles of individual Mexican immigrants • explore the issue by using technology outside the classroom in a self directed activity in the computer lab

SIRS Researcher: Part IIBeyond the Border An online resource that accompanies the PBS documentary presentation: Beyond the Border. Presented are the 4 Ayala brothers as they settle and find work in Kentucky. Each has different story to tell: different hopes, dreams, and disappointments.
Implementation:Beyond the Border • Class meets in computer lab for directed search on SIRS to PBS website • Provides an opportunity for visual & auditory learners • Video clips are available in Spanish with English text
