  1. DR PAUL RAJ ENGINEERING COLLEGE BHADRACHALAM PRESENTED BY V.HARIKA(ECE) N.PADMAJA(ECE)

  2. NON RENEWABLE AND RENEWABLE RESOURCES

  3. WHAT ARE NONRENEWABLE RESOURCES ? NON RENEWABLE ? ? RESOURCE

  4. NON RENEWABLE RESOURCES A nonrenewable resource is a natural resource that cannot be re-made or re-grown at a scale comparable to its consumption.

  5. TYPES OF NON RENEWABLE SOURCES OF ENERGY NUCLEAR ENERGY FOSSIL FUEL

  6. NUCLEAR ENERGY Nuclear fission uses uranium to create energy. Nuclear energy is a nonrenewable resource because once the uranium is used, it is gone!

  7. FOSSIL FUELS Coal, petroleum, and natural gas are considered nonrenewable because they can not be replenished in a short period of time. These are called fossil fuels.

  8. ADVANTAGES OF NON RENEWABLE RESOURCES • COST AND AVAILABILITY : For example, it is difficult to find a car or truck that runs off of rechargeable battery power, solar power, or electricity

  9. DISADVANTAGES OF NON RENEWABLE RESOURCES When they're gone, they're gone.  You can't replace natural gas, oil, or coal. Also, mining for these sources at such an intense rate can have devastating environmental effects.

  10. If nonrenewable resources are resources that cannot be re-made at a scale comparable to its consumption, what are renewable resources?

  11. RENEWABLE RESOURCES Renewable resources are natural resources that can be replenished in a short period of time. ● Solar ● Geothermal ● Wind ● Biomass ● Water

  12. SOLAR Energy from the sun. Why is energy from the sun renewable?

  13. WIND Energy from the wind. Why is energy from the wind renewable?

  14. BIOMASS Energy from burning organic or living matter. Why is energy from biomass renewable?

  15. WATER Energy from the flow of water. Why is energy of flowing water renewable?

  16. GEOTHERMAL Energy from steam produced by water    heated within the earth. Why is energy from geothermal renewable?

  17. ADVANTAGES OF RENEWABLE RESOURCES • One advantage of renewable energy therefore is the more sustainable use of finite sources of energy. • No carbon-based planet warming and polluting • We can use it repeatedly without depleting it. • Saving on health and its costs

  18. DISADVANTAGES OF RENEWABLE RESOURCES • Renewables tend to be expensive compared to fossil fuel technology (to build) • Wind turbines can cause annoying 'strobing' as sunlight is broken through the rotating turbines • Not efficient, expensive to produce, technology not yet mature or well evolved.

  19. CONCLUSION RENEWABLE ENERGY IS PREFERABLE THAN NON RENEWABLE THOUGH RENEWABLE IS EXPENSIVE IN SOME CASES

  20. THANK YOU
