  1. Slime Mold Koshi high school of Fukui Erina Morita Misako Kato YuinaTanikawa

  2. First We found that slime mold may have negative geotaxis from the results of our seniors’ experiment. We want to research slime mold because we were interested in it.

  3. What is Slime mold? True slime mold Slime mold Cellularslime mold Cellularity slime mold Fallen leaves Underside of rotten trees・logs

  4. 粘菌とは…? This is Slime mold!!

  5. Exploratory experiment Figure

  6. Outcome

  7. Experiment Ⅰ:about Existence of geotaxis

  8. Result 87.5% of slime molds showed that they have negative gravitaxis. 12.5% of slime molds showed that they didn’t have negative gravitaxis.

  9. Consideration Slime molds mostly moved upward. It is thought that they have negative gravitaxis.

  10. Experiment Ⅱ: About migration pathway After 6 hours rotated 90 °or180°

  11. Result

  12. Use bigger petri dish

  13. Consideration They didn’t go over their path from before. It is thought that they have a property to avoid going over the same path.

  14. The Whole Consideration They leave the traces such as chemical substances on their path. Avoid the path where they cannot expect to get food. In doing so...

  15. The difference in how the slime molds move may depend on the amount of food and the strength of stimulus (gravity, light, and chemical substance).

  16. Future Questions What is the material left behind after the slime mold passes? Why does the slime mold move to avoid it?

  17. How does the slime mold move when signals (gravity, light, andchemical substance) are changed?

  18. Thank you for listening!!
