However in the hands of experienced lab technician they can be used on anterior teeth as well. How is a crown prepared? The tooth in need of a crown is prepared based on prosthodontics principles of tooth preparation. The amount of reduction is based on the position of the tooth in the arch and the type of material chosen for the final crown. Following tooth preparation, an impression is taken and a stone model is fabricated. A custom shade match is done. The lab technician then fabricates the final crown. It usually takes 10 working days before you have your final crown. During this time your dentist will fabricate a temporary crown made of acrylic. Once the final crown is ready, it is checked for fit and shade match. It is then cemented with special adhesives. We are Here to Help If you are feeling pain, let us know.
