  2. És un arbre molt característic de la regió mediterrània. És cultivat pels seus fruits. Té l'origen al Mediterrani oriental.

  3. Aquests arbres poden ser masculins,femenins o hermafrodites. És un arbre amb la capçada plana i arrodonida. Les seves fulles son ovalades i de color verd fosc.

  4. La seva fruita quan està madura té un color marró fosc gairebé negre. Normalment maduren a finals d'agost i principis de setembre.
