  1. Position • Male surfer is positioned in the middle centre (foregrounded), but another male and female surfer are in the background. This is the main centre of interest. • Palm trees behind the beach are also in the background along with the red and yellow flags

  2. Direction • There is no eye-contact in the ad • Surfers are facing the beach as if about to go for a surf • Makes the viewer want to join in with them

  3. Angle • Although there is no eye-contact, the image is shot at eye level, side on. Which gives us a sense of equality which is a big theme in Australian beach culture

  4. Light • Although the sky is quite dark, the lighting gives across the sense of a happy and free day. • The sand shines quite brightly compared to the other colours which makes us feel relaxed.

  5. Body Language • Cannot really see the facial expression of surfers • However body posture is when they are running towards the ocean which is quite upright and gives us a sense of being ready for anything • Both the male and female surfers have the same body language which subverts the stereotype of gender held in popular culture today.

  6. Clothing • Clothing worn is the typical beach clothing for Australia, fitting in with what a stereotypical Australian would wear at the beach • Thus reflecting the Australian beach culture and Australian culture in general. • Giving across the impression of the quite chilled and easy-going ways of Australians
