Our Programs and Services • Programs and services are in aligned with NorCal’s mission and reflect a deaf-centered approach promoting respect for the community’s rich language and culture. • This year, NorCal added 2 new programs: • DeafSAFE – services for Deaf survivors of sexual assault • DeafJOBS – Employment services in the Redding, Chico and Yuba City areas. 4

  5. Sign Language Interpreting and Real Time Captioning Services 4,964 requests received 9,819 hours interpreting and captioning provided 5

  6. Specialized Services Day program focused on social interactions, expressive communication and outings into the community Placement in regular competitive employment with support of job coaching during employment Deaf/hard of hearing adults with developmental or other disabilities 6

Case Management Services Support for crisis situations involving neglect or abuse Instructions for money management, public transportation, coordination of multiple services as needed for daily living Advocate for interpreting, captioning or other services to have equal access to private and public services 554 individuals served by 8 full-time client advocacy staff 7

  10. New Service! - DeafSAFE Through a grant from federal Office of Violence against Women, NorCal has partnered with DeafHope to serve survivors of sexual violence who are deaf or hard of hearing. Services are available throughout NorCal’s service area. Deaf Survivor Support Services • Sexual Violence is happening in our community • You have the right to be free • of violence in your life • We can give you support and information so you can make choices about your life • Our services are confidential • and free 10

Major Contracts Department of Social Services, Deaf Access Program:Primary fundingsince 1978 for case management services Employment Development Dept: Funding since 1995 to provide job placement and interpreting services at One Stop Center. Community Services Block Grant Yuba County & Sutter County: since 1995 for linkage and access services to deaf and hard of hearing families in Yuba City/Marysville office Yuba Sutter United Way since 1986, funding for Yuba City/Marysville outreach office Office on Violence Against Women, Dept. of Justice: (NEW) Funding to provide Sexual Assault services to Deaf survivors. Department of Rehabilitation – ARRA: Funding to expand employment services to Redding and Marysville locations. 23

Fees for Services Alta Regional Center Day program for ALTA consumers who are deaf or hard of hearing with other disabilities Long term job coaching for ALTA consumers placed in competitive employment Department of Rehabilitation (DOR) Pre-employment and employment services, supportive employment, job coaching and interpreting services for DOR consumers who are deaf or hard of hearing.
