The Strange Fire was Unauthorized • Fire was used in 5 offerings • Burnt 6:13 • Meal 2:2 • Peace 3:5 • Sin 4:6-12 • Trespass 7:5 • Carnal enthusiasm is no substitute for worshiping God properly • I Tim 3:15 • Jn 4:24 • Jos 24:14 • Must worship God according to how He wants Three Points • Jer 37:17 The Priest of God • II Jn 9 The Punishment from God • Col 3:17The Prohibitions from God

The Priest of God v1 • Their Position • They were priest---They represented the people before God • Today we all are priest • I Pet 2:9 • Their Performance • It was the their job to preform this ceremony • There was a certain way they were commanded to do their duty • God did not find fault with them using the censer or the incense • There are certain things that God expects us to do in our worship to him • There are 5 acts of worship (singing, praying, teaching, communion, giving) • Their Presumption • Strange fire was fire that was not authorized by God • They did not think it made a difference with the type of fire used • God does not have to tell us what not to do----he only tells us what He wants us to do!

The Punishment From God v2-7 • Character of the punishment was Death 2 • The fire was not a consuming fire---it was a flash of fire that struck them dead • The punishment was immediate Heb 2:1-3 • Cause for the punishment was Disobedience 3 • God is not man---We cannot offer anything to God and expect him to accept it Mal 1:8 • God will be glorified whether by obedience or disobedience! (Pharaoh) • Carriers after the punishment were Directed 4-5 • Were commanded to take dead body outside the camp • Anyone who was defiled by a dead body Num 5:2 • Constraint over the punishment was Determined 6-7 • Aaron nor his sons were allowed to show any outward signs of mourning • Had to acknowledge the justice of punishment---prove submission to divine punishment

The Prohibitions From God v8-11 • Intoxication by strong drink v8-9a • God does not condone the consumption of alcoholic beverages! • Desecration of the sanctuary v9b • God’s house is sacred (special and deserves respect) • God does not need us to do anything for him Ps 51:17 • Contamination of the sacred v10 • The church is not a concert! • The church is a place of worship and instruction! • The church should be different • Starvation of the scripture v11 • The reason why people do unauthorized things in worship is because they are not following the Bible • The Bible is our guide • Where there is no Scripture there is no Structure II Tim 3:16-17

Lessons Learned • Is any Fire just Fire NO!----Is any Worship just Worship NO! • Is any Church just as good as another NO! • Is any Music just Music NO! • We cannot tamper unauthorized things in worship • Everything must be of Faith Rom 10:17, Heb 10:6 • There is serious danger when mixing the secular with the spiritual! • Presumption in God’s worship is sin----They chose theirownway of thanking and praising God • Unauthorized practices in worship is displeasing to God
