  2. Hair and Make-Up I wanted to do some extra research into smaller yet still important aspects that are going to be shown within the trailer. For example, I wanted to look at what the actors will be wearing, make up style and overall atmosphere. I decided that because the characters are average, normal citizens that nothing will be over the top. The make up will be simple and subtle for all three actresses involved. This is the same with their hair. Luckily, the actresses hair are all different. Amy had blonde mid length hair which I will ask her to curl or put waves into it, Rhiannon (Megan) has red/brown shoulder length hair that will remain straight and the mother in the trailer has blonde short hair which suits her motherly character well. If I had over the top make up or hairstyles, it would make the trailer/film look amateur and unprofessional. This way it also means that no cost will be involved. It will be time and cost efficient as they or myself will already have the necessary make up.

  3. Atmosphere The characters in the story start off as average, everyday young girls meaning that their makeup, hair and lifestyle will be minimal and subtle. At the beginning of the trailer, looking at Todorovs Narrative Structure, it starts out at an equilibrium so it will be day time, light and generally happy as the young girl – Amy – moves into her new cottage. As the trailer goes on, the atmosphere will begin to darken such as turning into night time and darker within the cottage as random, strange events start to happen. I want to create a mysterious effect, especially accompanied by the mirroring music/sound effects. The darkness will be then shown fully when the candles begin to light by themselves, however I need to make sure that it isn’t too dark to see the key hanging in the air for example or the actors themselves otherwise it will look unprofessional. As it is a private cottage, it will be very quiet which suits my storyline perfectly, I didn’t want lots of cars passing or parked on the street as it would take the lonely, abandoned feeling form the character. From the choosing of my location, I am able to create this atmosphere and overall it will help create mysterious within the trailer and the character – especially when it turns to night time.

  4. Similar to the key I will use to hang in the air Variety of candles lit by themselves, increasing the tense atmosphere that someone is there through the darkness Newspaper found in room explaining death and remains found in the cottage The trees/forest/field surrounding will be effective when it gets dark to create a scared and abandoned atmosphere
