Customizing your Scratch and Win Game
Your scratch and win game is highly customizable, and can be branded very tightly to your station or for an advertiser. High quality designs will take strong graphics knowledge, but the implementation is easy!
Let’s take a look at the components of the scratch and win game, and some notes about how to design for them. Background: Bottom-most layer, backdrop for the game. Includes all other core graphics, including logos, the card area, etc. Zones: These areas are outlined as representations of the available zones you can fill in your blackjack administration. Typical use would be inserting ad tags into these areas to monetize them, and as a result not designing in this area. Potential uses for designing in this area would be if you have sold a sponsorship and you want to brand the entire graphic piece to the sponsor. Combination Images: These are images that comprise winning combinations. You can design up to 6 unique images for the available image slots in the administration page. These are a great branding tool – you can use bottle caps for a beer company, or car models for a dealership. The possibilities are endless! Cover Images: This is one single image that covers all six scratch areas on the card to cover up the combination images. This can be just as unique as the winning images, highly brandable. Keep in mind that the image will be repeated 6 times, though.
How to use the PSD file: • Design: • The PSD is documented and all layers are labeled, so its recommended to design in the specific layers for ease of use. • The MENU and CARD COVER layer should not be edited or exported. These are graphics that are hard-built into the game. Use this layer for a visual representation of how your finished game will look. • The ZONES layers are simply bounding boxes to show you where the zones will be if you input content or ad tags in the respective zones from the blackjack administration page. You can choose to design graphics that will be apart of your design in this area, but note that it could be covered up if content/code is inserted in the backend. • Only design one cover image – you can repeat it across your design to get an idea of how an unscratched card will look. • Crop layers are available for quick selection of the scratch images, as well as quick export. Export Process: When finished designing, make sure the INSTRUCTIONS and MENU layers have been hidden. Crop your COVER IMAGE, and choose File > Save for Web as JPG with a quality of 70. Crop each of your COMBINATION IMAGES, up to 6, and export each of them with the same method above. Hide the SCRATCH IMAGES folder Make sure just the GAME and optionally ZONES (if anything has been designed in it) are showing. Hide all other layers. Export the entire image via the same method listed above. Now, upload your cover and combination images into the SCRATCH IMAGES section of the administration page. Next, upload your full game/background image into the background section of the GAME APPEARANCE area. This will complete your game customization!
