Climate and birds of Holland • Holland is surrounded by the North Sea and has a huge coastline and many wetland areas • The weather in Holland is similar to ours in the United Kingdom. • There are lots of water fowl and an exciting range of birds to see. • There are immense flocks of geese, ducks, and other water fowl and a range of wintering raptors (birds of prey) • Because of the landscape of Holland, there are so many different bird species, compared to the UK

  4. There are eagles, hawks, kites, buzzards, merlins, vultures, goshawks and condors

  6. The Netherlands are located on the main migration routes for some birds • This is why so many species of birds ( over 470) have their habitats there • It is a great place for bird watching just like in the UK • Being on the continent, Holland has a variety of middle european species of birds

  7. A list of some speciality birds of Holland • Spoonbill • Great white egret • Marsh harrier. Blue throat. Black tern • Redshank • Marsh sandpiper • Avocet • Bearded tit • Some birds have virtually disappeared like the little bittern, night heron and crested lark
