  5. Weaknesses • Lack of training • City folk fighting the war • Inexperienced generals

  6. War Goals • Subdue the South • Take the Mississippi and blockade the coast • Isolate the South from the world

  7. States • Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, Oregon, California, and Kansas.
