  4. Why is Reading Aloud Important? • Builds foundational skills • Introduces vocabulary • Provides a model of fluent, expressive reading • Helps children recognize that reading is pleasurable • It’s Fun!!!

  5. Read Aloud Tips… • Choose stories that respond to children’s interests and experiences. • Read with expression • Use inflection • Give characters a voice • Alter the pace • Use facial expressions • Practice before you read
