  13. Periodic Table • Add the Periodic Table to the back cover of your composition book on the inside • Fold the paper and tape down one edge • Don’t tape over the boxes of the periodic table! We will need to color code them later!

Parts of an Atom • The protons and neutrons are in the center of the atom in the nucleus • The electrons surround the nucleus and are in constant motion in the electron cloud • What are the electrical charges of these subatomic particles? • This is a Bohr model of an atom of Carbon • Named after Niels Bohr, a Danish physicist who won the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1922 for his work

  15. Atoms of Elements – Bohr Models • Let’s use Lithium as an example  • Your turn! Complete the data table for your element and create a Bohr model • Use your pencil to draw the nucleus and energy levels • Use candies to represent the subatomic particles • Label all of the parts of your Bohr model
