GRADUATIONREQUIREMENTS • English 40 credits • Math 30 credits • Science (physical and life) 30 credits • Social Science 30 credits • Visual/Performing Art 10 credits • Foreign Language 10 credits • P.E. 20 credits • Health 5 credits • ICT Careers 5 credits • Electives 70 credits • Total Credits Required 250 credits • 40 Hours Community Service • Pass both parts of California High School Exit Exam (CAHSEE)

Applying to College(Yes, already!) • CSU’S • Apply online: www.csumentor.edu • Apply October 1st – November 30th (Don’t wait until Thanksgiving!) • Cost to apply is $55.00 • CSU Application Workshops are available Oct. 11th 1 – 3 p.m. Oct. 12th 1 – 3 p.m. Students may sign up to attend in the Counseling Office. Space is limited!

5. Applying to College, cont… • UC’s • Apply online: www.universityofcalifornia.edu/apply • Apply November 1st – November 30th (Website opens Oct. 1st, but can’t submit until November 1) • Cost to apply is $70.00 • Application Overview given by a UC Admissions Counselor Oct. 31st during 3rd per. • UC Application workshops available November 2nd 1 – 3 p.m. November 3rd 1 – 3 p.m. Students may sign up for all 3 events in the Counseling Office.

6. Test Requirements for College Admissions • CSU’s: SAT Reasoning Test: Nov. 5 or Dec. 3 OR ACT: Oct. 22 or Dec. 10 • UC’s: SAT Reasoning Test, or ACT Plus Writing Note: UC’s no longer require the SAT Subject Tests for Admission; however, some majors recommend them.

7. Private and/or Out-of-State Universities • Application periods and entrance requirements vary for each school. • Students should check individual school websites for application procedures and timelines. • Most schools accept SAT or ACT. • Application fees will vary. • Tuition and overall costs will vary – be aware of out-of state tuition and/or residency requirements. • WUE: Western Undergrad Exchange enables eligible CA students to attend schools in other Western states at a reduced tuition rate. ASU, NAU, UNLV, U of Utah, Boise State, U of Oregon are just a few examples.

8. After I Apply, What’s Next? 1/1 – 3/2 Apply for Financial Aid by completing the FAFSA. 10/10 “Making Financial Planning Count” presentation in the PAC 6 p.m. 1/11 Need help with the FAFSA? Two workshops available in our computer lab: one at 2:45 p.m. and another at 5:00 p.m. 1/1 – 5/1 Respond to any request for additional info from your schools 3/1 – 3/31 Admission Notifications sent 3/1 – 5/30 Financial Aid Packages Sent 5/1 Intent to Register (SIR) deposit due 4/1 – 8/1 Housing, testing, orientation, and registration activities at your school College Begins! 9. COMMUNITY COLLEGES • Application period is in the Spring • No SAT/ACT’s required. CCC’s have their own placement tests. • MSJC will be on MV campus frequently this year to talk to prospective students. • Application workshops will be held at MV on March 27th and on May 1st and 17th. Students may sign-up in the Counseling Office.

10. Steps for a Successful Senior Year • Maintain good grades. Do not jeopardize your graduation and/or college acceptance. No D’s or F’s! • Maintain good attendance! Senioritis is the “Killer of Opportunity!” • Check ABI regularly and communicate with teachers. • Grad Faire – October 13th! • Senior Contract – You signed it - Abide by it! • Study Hard, Have Fun & Finish Strong!
