  3. Four groups Four landscape situations Rural village Upland regional park Coastal port Urban setting [drawings from www.biodiversityplanningtoolkit.com]
  4. Three planning steps Step 1. What do we have? Create map Assess socio-economic and ecological values Step 2. What do we want? Define policies and planning objective Step 3. How do we get there? Assess alternatives, opportunities and constraints Use ecosystems approach
  5. What do we have?
  6. Orchard

  8. What do we want? (1) Define nature conservation policies, including: Protection of biodiversity No net loss of biodiversity (compensation, mitigation) Promote ecosystem based solutions Identify opportunities for restoration Reflect climate change adaptation and mitigation Integrate communication and public participation
  9. What do we want? (2) Local (sustainable) development, such as: Building houses Reduce flood risk Anticipate sea level rise Improve urban public health and well-being Increase generation and use of renewable energies Improve transport infrastructure, etc Development proposal given by the trainers
