Thor Þōrr • Thor is the Norse God of thunder • His hammer, Mjolnir, is what supposedly causes lightning. • Thor throws his hammer down to Earth, where lightning strikes where it lands, and returns to Thor. • However, during Ragnarok, Thor was killed by his enemy Jormungand, so how is there still lightning? • Thor is remembered today as the 4th day of the week, Thursday, or, Thor’s Day.
More info on Mjolnir • Mjolnir is a short handled hammer wielded by Thor • It magically returns to its owner when thrown • Lightning strikes with each throw
After Thor’s death • Modi and Magni inherit the Mjolnir hammer, but only Magni is strong enough to wield it • Magni is the god of strength, and is praised whenever feats of power happen • Modi is the god of battle wrath, evident in fierce battle commanders.
