  2. What is Colon Cancer? Colon cancer is a genetic disease that affects the colon and internal bowel functions. It causes mitosis in the colon or area near the colon to increase. Usually this is a malignant tumor.

  3. What causes Colon Cancer? Colon cancer is caused by a gene passed on through heritance. Colon cancer can also be caused through large fat intakes.

  4. Mutation The colon cancer is caused through genes by the mutation of a strand of DNA were an adenine was added. This mutation is a frame shift that inserts a base.

  5. Who can have colon cancer? Usually the age group of 20 to 60 get the cancer. It is the third most common cancer among males and fourth to females.

  6. What part of the body is affected? Mainly the colon were the end of the stomach is located. Polyps that are clumps of cells grow along the edge of the wall of the colon. It is these cells that are mostly affected.

  7. Symptoms Change in bowel habits. Internal bleeding. Fatigue. Blood in stool. Consistent abominable pain such as cramps, aches, gas.

  8. Treatment Chemotherapy can be used as it is used on most cancers. Surgery is probably the most common. Radiation therapy can also be used

  9. Diagnosis (finding it) X-Rays can be used to find colon cancer internally. Stool blood test, since the stool will usually have bleeding due to the cancer. Colonscopy, a diagnosis that uses a tube camera for finding the cancer in the colon.

  10. Extra Info Healthy diets can help against colon cancer. Smoking causes and increased risk of cancer.
