Job Description • A musician is an instrumentalist, singer, or composer who creates and/or performs music. • It may involve working as a salaried member of a group or in the form of freelance work. • Some musicians have a portfolio career in which you work in more than one are of the profession.

Years of study required • There isn’t really a degree requirement to be a musician; Proven ability is the most important requirement • You have to be trained; A high school diploma or GED is recommended as the minimum level of education. • Further training can be received at a college or university music program or conservatory.

  7. Entrance requirements • Berklee College of Music- Applicants must be able to speak English and must have completed high school or will complete high school by the time they enroll. An audition must also take place. • Juilliard- The acceptance is based on an audition. A specific ACT score or GPA is not required. • Columbia College Chicago- An audition and an essay is required to enter Columbia. • UNO- To attend Uno you need a minimum score of 19 in Math on the ACT and a minimum score of 18 in English on the ACT. Your composite score will have to be a 23 and you will also need a gpa of a 2.5. • Loyola University- You must score at least a 23 composite on the ACT and a have a gpa of 3.5

  8. Potential Income of a musician • A musician’s income widely varies. • Their salary can range from 10k to over 1 million dollars per year. • It all depends on how proficient and creative an artist is.
