Pieces: Goals and Objectives • Subsystem analysis. To develop tools for modeling and analyzing subsystems of structures typically found in a modern system,e.g., airplane, missile, tank,automobile, ship, command post … • Topological analysis. To develop subsystem characterization techniques amenable to utilization in topological decomposition and topological analysis of complex systems
Subsystem or Substructure Analysis • To develop an understanding of electromagnetic coupling mechanisms in systems and structures • To develop the tools needed to predict the properties of a transient signal as it makes its way from the exterior of a structure or of a substructure, through a transmission path, to the terminals of a deeply embedded digital system • To catalog the properties of transient signals that might be expected to reach digital systems – as guidance to other MURI investigators who assess the reaction of a digital system to a transient stimulus
Topological Analysis • To develop subsystem characterization techniques amenable to utilization in topological decomposition of complex systems • To participate in the development of robust topological methods for characterizing the behavior of complex systems from topological knowledge of its constituent subsystems • To exploit apriori-determined knowledge and matrix methods to analyze complex structures
